Understanding Verbal Blessing & Cursing: So Much Hype, So Little Power

In this post, you will learn everything you need to know about the human practice of verbally blessing and cursing other humans.

HOW HUMANS VIEW BLESSING & CURSING

There are two main ways that humans view blessing and cursing.  For non-serious users, the phrase “Bless you!” is the same as saying “Thank you!” or “I like you!” or “Wow, you seem like such a nice person that I hope things go well for you in the future.”  Alternately, to say “Curse you!” is a way of saying “I hate you!” or “You’re such a jerk!” or “I hope rotten things happen to you because you’ve upset me!”  For non-serious users, blessing and cursing people or objects is just a way of expressing personal joy or anger. Downgrading the Devil: Debunking the Myth of Lucifer

122

AUDIO VERSION: YouTube  Podbean

Among Christians, it is commonly believed that bad ole Satan wasn’t always the shady, malicious character he is today.  Instead, Christians are told that a long time ago, evil Satan used to be a beautiful, brilliant, perfect and powerful angel named Lucifer.  Lucifer had it all.  Lucifer was the chief angel—God’s right hand guy.  But then Lucifer got a big head and all greedy for more power.  So he staged some kind of coup against God, which sparked a massive civil war among the angels.  A third of the angels sided with Lucifer, the rest sided with God.  Team Lucifer lost, and they all got booted out of Heaven, cursed, and turned into the ugly, slinking creatures we know as demons today.  The archangel Michael then took over as the top commander of all the good angels, and today he and Lucifer are constantly going at it.  This is the quick summary of who Christians think Lucifer is.  And guess what?  It’s all a bunch of hooey. Genesis 6 in Context: Demystifying the Nephilim

AUDIO VERSION: YouTube  Podbean

Today it is commonly taught that Genesis 6 describes male angels having sexual relations with human females, the outcome of which is a generation of angel-human hybrids called Nephilim.  So is this really what is going on in Genesis 6?  No, it’s not.

There are many translations of the Bible, and each translation is working towards a certain set of goals (see Bible Study Help: Which translation should you use?).  When the goal is to convey the general idea of a passage as simply as possible, translators end up taking a lot of liberties with the text.  Now suppose you are a Bible translator.  Once you decide in your mind that angels are being described in Genesis 6, then you might put the word “angel” or “supernatural being” in your translation of that chapter, even though that’s really not what the text says.  In your mind, you’re making the passage more clear to others, but in reality what you’re doing is shifting the language to reflect your own interpretation of words which could be interpreted multiple ways.  When people come along and read your revised version of the passage, they don’t see the other options you had to choose from, because by not translating the original language more accurately, you make your interpretation sound like the only one that’s possible.  This happens with Bible translations all the time, which is why it’s very helpful to compare different translations of the passage you’re studying. Demonic Possession: When Should You Get Involved?

252

AUDIO VERSION: YouTube  Podbean

If you can see that someone has a problem, is it your moral duty to try and fix that problem for them?  Many Christians would say yes.  God says no.  You see, God is the One dishing out the problems in the first place, and He has very strategic reasons for giving people the problems that He does.  When you then come along and condemn what God is doing, where is your respect for God’s Authority?  Where is your acknowledgement that His wisdom is vastly superior to yours? Miracles in the End Times: The Mechanics & The God-Honoring Response

245

AUDIO VERSION: YouTube  Podbean

Humans do not have supernatural powers.  They can’t perform miracles, their spells and curses are nothing but noise, and they can’t see into the future.  They can’t read minds, and they can’t separate their souls from their earthsuits, much to the chagrin of many astral projection addicts.  We could spend this entire post talking about what humans can’t do, but no matter how true it is that humans are impotent little specks who aren’t even smart enough to understand how much they don’t understand, most people would think we’re wrong to paint humans in such an unimpressive light.  Do you know why?  Because humans are such undiscerning dopes that you can get them to believe anything if you just toy with their senses and tell them what their egos want to hear.  Now don’t misunderstand—we love humans.  Humans are the most precious element of this creation and the only part of this world which God is going to keep when He wipes this place out.  If humans were content to be the dearly loved, powerless specks that they are, we wouldn’t need to bother with this post.  But because humans refuse to accept how limited they are, they insist on putting their faith in fantasies.  From the very beginning, humans have been seeking out ways to try and lessen the difference between them and their Creators.  Why did Adam and Eve sample the forbidden fruit?  Because they thought it would expand their abilities and move them one step closer to being equal to God.  Why do we constantly do what God warns us not to do?  Because we resent the whole notion of Him putting limits on us.  How dare He.  Who does He think He is, anyway? Demons in the End Times: Understanding Possession & Exorcism

Because God’s control over His own creations is absolute, not partial, demons never have free rein over humans.  Demons never get the luxury of getting to do everything they want exactly how and when they want.  Instead, demons are stuck in the same position that humans are stuck in: they’re forced to make the best of a situation that is far from their ideal.  Read more of this post

Pursued by Spirits: How to Find Real Help in Dealing with Supernatural Beings

Suppose your cell phone rings.  Should you always pick it up?  It could be a friend.  Or it could be an enemy who is recording your call so he can use the information against you in court.  Before you open up the line and start dialoguing with whoever it is that’s calling you, you should look at the screen on your phone and see if you recognize the number.  If you don’t, then you would be wise to send it to voicemail and let whoever it is leave you a message.  In this day and age, many callers who are just out to harass you will give up if they can’t make an immediate connection, so you save yourself a whole lot of trouble by finding ways to screen your calls. Is the Grim Reaper real?

112

AUDIO VERSION: YouTube  Podbean

The Grim Reaper is not real.  He is a fictional personification of death.  If we travel around the world, we will find that different cultures and religions have very different theories about how the mechanics of death work.  The truth is that God is the One who kills us by separating our souls from our physical bodies.  Many false beliefs about death preserve the idea that there is some living being who is intentionally killing us, but that being is depicted in many different ways.  Some depict “Death” as an ugly old woman. Some view Death as a walking skeleton.  The Grim Reaper character is often depicted as a robed skeleton who carries a scythe (a tool that is used for harvesting grains).  Sometimes he has wings, sometimes not.  But no matter how he is depicted, he is just a delusion.  Just as we like to pretend that Santa Claus comes and puts packages under the Christmas tree when in reality we know that we put those presents there ourselves, some believe that the Grim Reaper is the one who “reaps” or “harvests” their souls at death.  But in reality, these things are just an avoidance of truth.  The truth is that our three Creators–Yahweh, Jesus and the Holy Spirit–are the only Ones with the power to separate soul from body.   Read more of this post

Hating Demons: Is it really as righteous as it sounds?

24

AUDIO VERSION: YouTube  Podbean

God is good and demons are evil. God is for us and demons are against us. God is wonderful and demons are trying to negatively impact Him in some way. What more reason do we need to hate demons? We certainly shouldn’t be for demons, because God has already damned them, and we don’t want to be insulting God by hoping demons will somehow get another chance. Demons are out of chances. We don’t know what they did to burn up God’s patience, but we know how gracious He is, so if He says He’s fed up, there’s nothing more to say. Read more of this post
