The Pursuit of God

Serious Topics for Serious Christians

About This Site

bow-to-JesusWe were created by God for His pleasure and we will only reach our full potential as His creatures when we have dedicated ourselves to the pursuit of pleasing Him.

Christianity gets complicated when we put everything we have into pursuing God. We run into theological problems that other Christians refuse to talk about and we start asking questions we’re not supposed to ask. In our material, we don’t shy away from discussing tough questions. How do we deal with God’s silence? Why does God sometimes abandon us in our hour of need? Where is He when bad things happen? Why do the people who want Him the most experience the worst side of Him? God has intentionally set the cost of knowing Him very high. Pursuing a deep relationship with Him will cost you everything you have, but there is no greater reward than having an intimate bond with your Creator.

In Jeremiah 9:24, God says, “But let him who boasts boast of this: that he understands and knows Me.”

The goal of this site is to help you know God better, for an intimate bond with Him is the greatest treasure we can seek in this life.

We don’t want you to trust us, admire us, bond to us, or assume that everything we say is right just because we’re the ones saying it.  To help you keep emotional distance from us, we don’t talk about ourselves, we don’t post compliments that other people give us about our material, and we don’t discuss our personal dynamics with God.  Because so many Christian teachers encourage others to become emotionally dependent on them, our aloof style can sometimes frustrate people.  And yet we know that the best thing for your soul is to learn to depend entirely on God, and we’re not going to hamper that process by filling your head with a bunch of irrelevant information about who we are.  You really shouldn’t care who we are–instead, you should be asking God if our material has any merit to it.  If He tells you that it does, then ask Him to help you apply it well in your own life.  If He tells you that we’re a bunch of heretics, then stay away from us.  Life is about you and God.

We put out a lot of radical teaching on this site.  We say a lot of things that you’ve been taught by the Church to instantly reject.  But the Church doesn’t teach you to think, she teaches you to blindly accept what certain humans say just because those humans have fancy titles and degrees and dramatic testimonials.  This is no good.  It’s your soul that’s on the line.  It’s your relationship with God that’s being affected by the things you accept as truth.  So you need to be guarded, and you need to refuse to put your trust in humans.  You need to learn to stop following the majority just because it is the majority.  You need to learn to stop caring about who agrees with something and who doesn’t.  At the end of your life, you’re going to answer to God, not people, and He is the only One who we will encourage you to put your trust in.

Websites need to be managed and maintained if they’re going to remain in good condition.  Anna manages this one, which includes the task of posting the articles, and this is why you see her name on all of the articles.  Because her name is the only name posted on the articles, some people start obsessing over who Anna might be, and they search the web looking for biographical information about her.  You won’t find any such information on the web–all you’ll find are musings by people who have never personally met Anna.  Should you be wasting your mental energy wondering who Anna is?  No, you shouldn’t.  Anna isn’t the one who you will answer to in life.  If you want to grow closer to God, you can’t get there by obsessing over a mere mortal.
